Apple Hype
As many of you may know by now, the Apple Store is currently down for an update. I strongly believe that this is just another tool for Apple to hype up their products. Steve Jobs made the brilliant decision to have the Apple Store hand coded instead of being dynamic. Bringing down the store to update it provides the blogosphere and other press to wonder “Ooo, ooo, what are they updating?” Keeping the information shrouded in mystery just boosts the hype of the update. This is probably a pretty good thing for Apple to do to make sure everything is publicized without much work. I mean, if they could update the site without actually bringing the whole thing down, it could take weeks before anyone would notice.
Wait, you know what? No, that’s not true. Right now you have a ton of Apple Fanboys who are always trolling the Apple Store online to drool over every product they have. Someone is going to notice that the new MacBooks are now available in Aluminum like the MacBook Pros but they have a Black Aluminum MacBook. The Unoffical Apple Weblog (which I love BTW) is one of those sites that will be noticing. Engadget, Gizmodo, and Crave will all see it on TUAW and post it on their blogs. Crediting TUAW of course. It’s all for hype and free publicity.
Do I have a problem with this? No, cause damn, I get excited when the Apple Store goes down. I’m such a fanboy. I hope they keep the Black MacBooks as I want one. Can they make a Black Aluminum MacBook? I hope so. If they actually update the MacBooks to Aluminum, you can say you heard it here first. I don’t know if that’s what they will be doing or not. I’ll find out with the rest of you folks
